Colleges in Richmond

Richmond, Virginia, is the capital of Virginia and during the Civil War also served as the capital of the Confederacy. As such it has a strong historical background and has many of the attributes of such older cities: a network of parks that enliven the center, for example. For those who don't like the cold the climate in winter is mild: snow is not unknown but is certainly not an all winter event. The summers are hot and humid but the ever-present air conditioning takes care of that. ( More )

As a capital and also an older city Richmond has an interesting and varied social and cultural life: you wouldn't decide where to go to college based purely on the book learning. In fact, given that there are four universities in the city and several community and technical schools, plus several more in the immediate area, the ratio of students to residents is high. That makes those extra-curricular activities all the better which is, after all, part and parcel of the college experience.
